Adam Door Cards

How do I remove the door cards from my Adam. Tried all sorts without success.

Just been looking online and it looks like the whole door card is clipped in place, looks like it would be a right pain in the butt to remove.

One of the images on the link shows the back of the card with the Blue clips.
Looks like there is a screw in the space behind the door handle you need to remove a little panel,
Looks like another 2 screws behind a panel in the middle of the door again you need to remove a panel,
and also a screw at the end of the card visible when you open the door.

it is possible you might have the move the whole arm rest from the middle of the door, but not sure how that comes off, it appears there are some screws from underneath.

Hi there,
I have just removed my wife’s driver’s door card/trim on her Adam... and no clips were broken!!
The good news is.... it is easy and do-able, if just a bit fiddly (no more than other car trims though).
Firstly, as always, it is handy to have a set of plastic trim removing tools (not vital, but less likely to leave marks/scratches).

1.Firstly, remove the tx screw from the trailing edge of the plastic door trim.

2. Next, go to the door release handle, and carefully tease out the blank flat plastic panel behind the catch, (it is held there by a dab of reusable epoxy, a bit like Blu-Tac...) it will reveal another screw.

3.Next, go to the main door shut recess, and do the same with the blank flat screw cover panel there... same set up as the door catch, but hiding two screws this time.

4. Check: Four screws (keep safe!!)

That is “it” in the screw department.... from now on, it’s just poppers and clips.... here we go:

5. Starting at the trailing edge of the door, using trim removal tool (or plastic ruler), pop out the trim in the area of the removed screw, then carefully work your way downwards around the side and bottom of the door, popping the fixers as you go, until you reach the front (hinge) edge of the door, level with the first fixer removed at the start.

6. The bottom two thirds of the trim will be loose now, and hanging from the top edge of the door waist. It is held in place at the top, where the whole length of the trim sits in a groove along the whole length of the bottom window glass rubber , securely located to the rubber strip by 4 spring clips.

7. Remove the plastic trim around the top of the door frame... it is easy to remove/replace... no clips, just held into the frame by guides, and a lip tucked under the top sealing rubber.

8.Now you have to be bold!

(It seems like you will break something, but you won’t!)

You can either remove the trim upwards, bringing it away from door along with the lower window edge rubber strip (to which the door trim is clipped... or....

You can remove it downwards, separating it from the rubber window strip.

I preferred removing it upwards, as you will have to lift the rubber strip out anyway to re-attach the clips on refitting the door trim.

Firstly, make sure you are on solid ground with no drains or gutters under the door... (one or more of the re-usable spring clips may drop to the ground!!).

To release the whole trim from the door structure, it needs to be firmly banged or teased upwards along its length, which will release the 4 re-usable spring clips.

The clips may well drop to the ground, so be aware of where they go... (you will be re-using them).

Once the door trim is free, you will need to support it whilst disconnecting the two electrical connector blocks (to the door mirror adjuster) and electric window switches (central, by the door pull)...

One last thing is to disconnect the door release cable, an easy ball grip (like a bike brake cable), and self-secured by spring pressure, and a securing block with built in barb clips, all self evident.

That’s it!!!!

Obviously, refitting is the reverse of removal, and it will take a few goes locating the window rubber neatly, but it is all very “DIY-able”!!!

Just give yourself time (allow 2 hours), don’t rush, and if you get stuck.... walk away for 5 mins and come back... you WILL be able to do this job!
