I have a 1.2 jam and find it a lovely drive but was wondering if anyone has attempted to fit a tuning mod which adds 35 more bhp. Find it quite sluggish at times, should of bought the 1.4 but too late now I guess.

My boyfriend is into racing high end cars ect and he said to get a extra 35bhp out of the 1.2 or the 1.4 you would be spending 5k+, he said the best thing you could do is get a custom remap ( one done to your car on a rolling road) this should give 5ish bhp more, but you could have the ecu in your car tuned for speed and not economy, therefor the 5bhp would make a big differance.
However not sure how it would effect our warranty :/

Heres a link to a off the shelf remap- http://www.customremapping.co.uk/tuning-remapping/vauxhall-remap/ only 2bhp more and 2nm of torque.Edited by: L8ydg

Seen something on eBay that you clip onto one of the sensors, only costs about 拢20 and says you'll get upto 35 more bhp but I'm un sure. Maybe he would know if that would work perhaps?

He said all that is more than likely is to trick the maf sensor (the sensor that monitors air temp, the colder the air, the more fuel it pumps into engine) into thinking its sucking in cold air all the time, this would result in overfueling a little, but wouldnt make much difference, if any.

He said if your willing to sacrafice a little economy for speed then your best bet is to get a custom remap, about 拢200.

One of his cars is a mercedes sl55 and that did 16-25mpg, it now does 4-10mpg.......yep 4! Lol, thats down to a custom remap and a few other modifications, but mostly down to the remap but its alot quicker, but that will void the warranty he thinks, hope that helped a little,xx

I would never trust something that cost 拢20 with my several thousand pound adam! If I was to get anything like that done I would use a specialist company and accept that to get a good quality job I would have to pay good quality money for it

It would cost less than 拢5K to sell your 1.2 and order the new 1.0 litre (I'm waiting on release date). You'd then have an extra 45 bhp and a steam train more torque (and that's what you really need in the real world).

That's what I'll be doing.

Planning on going to vauxhall, telling them I want the new one and asking they buy this off me.

Sicop, vauxhall pay the finance off instead of giving you the cash, ( you get any extra if there is any ) then you take out a new package for the new car

I got a map on my 1.4 (87 variant), gave it a smoother drive and took away that sluggish-ness when pulling away. Think its somewhere around the 110-115 mark now.

My dad is a mechanic and he said getting a remap would be the way forward forever there's no guarantee the lifespan if the car afterwards nor the mpg

Im gonna hold off judgement on the 1.0 turbo.... at least till I get a shot of one....

Ford brought out their new ecoboost and all I can say, is that I am far from impressed by it

The fuel economy isn't great, its not a quick as the old normally aspirated 1.6 and it constantly sounds like a petrol powered knitting machine when revving

The new adam sounds great but I will hold back till I can try it for myself
