I have a 1.2 jam and find it a lovely drive but was wondering if anyone has attempted to fit a tuning mod which adds 35 more bhp. Find it quite sluggish at times, should of bought the 1.4 but too late now I guess.
My boyfriend is into racing high end cars ect and he said to get a extra 35bhp out of the 1.2 or the 1.4 you would be spending 5k+, he said the best thing you could do is get a custom remap ( one done to your car on a rolling road) this should give 5ish bhp more, but you could have the ecu in your car tuned for speed and not economy, therefor the 5bhp would make a big differance.
However not sure how it would effect our warranty :/
He said all that is more than likely is to trick the maf sensor (the sensor that monitors air temp, the colder the air, the more fuel it pumps into engine) into thinking its sucking in cold air all the time, this would result in overfueling a little, but wouldnt make much difference, if any.
He said if your willing to sacrafice a little economy for speed then your best bet is to get a custom remap, about £200.
One of his cars is a mercedes sl55 and that did 16-25mpg, it now does 4-10mpg.......yep 4! Lol, thats down to a custom remap and a few other modifications, but mostly down to the remap but its alot quicker, but that will void the warranty he thinks, hope that helped a little,xx
I would never trust something that cost £20 with my several thousand pound adam! If I was to get anything like that done I would use a specialist company and accept that to get a good quality job I would have to pay good quality money for it
It would cost less than £5K to sell your 1.2 and order the new 1.0 litre (I'm waiting on release date). You'd then have an extra 45 bhp and a steam train more torque (and that's what you really need in the real world).
